Leadership for me is the courage to take up the mantle, not because one is most qualified, but because one wants an outcome bargained for, is willing to work for it, and ready to bear whatever responsibilities that arises, as compared to an outcome determined by chance.
Leadership means defying your inner fears, to shape a process and determine an output. A clear vision and a sense of responsibility are part of the qualities that makes a good leader. A true leader sees where she is going and takes necessary steps to get there, even if her actions are unpopular at the time.
Leadership involves selling a common goal to followers, and helping them visualize the common good achieving that goal would bring. A leader's dream should not only have purpose, but drive to see it be.
My ideal leader should be accommodating, a role model and listener. A leader is an example. Leadership is about sacrifice, as this singular trait will inspire others to take action. One who inspires people to grow beyond what they are is a leader. He grooms followers for the task ahead, ensuring the goal is greater than the personality.
Leadership is not about position or status. It is neither a noun, a name or a title. It is a verb. It is ACTIONABLE and DOABLE.
Finally, leadership for me, is the representation of equality.
